OpenAI's new GPT-6 Cyber AI finds 81 Firefox flaws, 948 Linux bugs
BleepingComputer · By Lawrence Abrams ·
The Brief
- OpenAI launched GPT-6 Cyber, a version of GPT-6 Astra trained to find software vulnerabilities, test how attackers could exploit them, and help develop fixes.
- OpenAI says the model found 81 previously unknown high-severity Firefox vulnerabilities and developed working exploits for 948 distinct Linux kernel flaws.
- Based on internal benchmarks, OpenAI says GPT-6 Cyber beats GPT-5.6 Cyber at exploitation and stays in scope more reliably. It will first be available to a limited group.
Why it matters
AI models are now finding and exploiting vulnerabilities at scale, so developers should expect more flaws to surface in their software, whether found by defenders or by attackers.
Who’s affected
- Security researchers doing authorized testing of websites and applications
- Firefox and Linux kernel maintainers
