The Brief
- Node.js 26 became a Long Term Support release on October 28, 2026.
- The DEV Community guide was first published in July, when Node.js 26 was still the Current line and advised testing now and waiting for LTS.
- The guide was updated on November 1, 2026 to say Node.js 26 is now Active LTS and to offer a production upgrade plan for SaaS teams.
Why it matters
Teams that had been holding off on Node.js 26 until it reached LTS can now plan production upgrades on a long-term support line.
